Ms. Maria Howlader

Ms. Maria Howlader FCA has been elected as the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh with effect from 01st January 2025. She is also the Managing Partner and founder of Howlader Maria & Co., (HmAC) Chartered Accountants (Member Firm of KRESTON Global). She has been in the Council of ICAB for 6 (six) consecutive years i.e. two terms for 2019-2021 & 2022-2024. She was the Vice President (Operations & Members’ Services) of the ICAB for the year 2021 & 2024.

Ms. Howlader has been serving Bangladesh Audit, Accounting, Taxation and Advisory Practice since 2008. Before founding her own professional practice and consultancy work, she was the partner in A. Qasem & Co., Chartered Accountants and practiced there for many years. Earlier, she worked for Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co., Chartered Accountants. She became an Associate Member of ICAB in 2008 and Fellow Member in 2013.

In addition to her above roles, Ms. Howlader is the Secretary General of Japan-Bangladesh Chambers and Commerce Industry (JBCCI) and also has been a Director to the Board of JBCCI) for two consecutive terms, covering 2022-2024 and 2024-2026. She is also placed in the Board of different organisations including as Independent Director to the Board of Transcom BD Lamps Limited, and the Reliance Insurance Limited.

She served as the Chairperson for 2021-2022 of SAFA Women Leadership Committee. She was also the Chairperson of Information & Communication Technology Committee, and Women Members Empowerment & Leadership Development Committee of ICAB 2021. She is the Chairman of ICAB Project on Development & Implementation of Audit Practice Software for CA Firm in Bangladesh. In line with the aims and objectives of ICAB, Ms Maria was also the Convener of a number of ICAB automation projects in 2021.
