Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA has a glorified academic and professional career. After completing his graduation and post-graduation in Accounting from Dhaka University, he qualified as a Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) in 1991. He has other professional qualifications like FCMA & CGMA from CIMA. Besides these he completed the INSEAD Leadership Course from INSEAD Asia Campus, Singapore. Moreover, he became an alumnus of Harvard Business School after completing the AMP (Advance Management Program).
After that Mr. Ahmed joined the multinational Unilever as a Management Trainee and left as the national Finance Director before working various leadership role in various countries, including Pakistan and the Middle East. In 2010, he joined Robi as CFO, and in 2014 promoted to COO. In 2016, he was appointed as the first homegrown CEO of Robi Axiata Ltd. and served till October’21. During his tenure with Robi Axiata, he also served as a board member of various Axiata entities like Bangladesh Infrastructure Co Ltd (currently edotco), Ncell Axiata (Nepal), and Reddot Digital Ltd. With his dedication, commitment and handwork, he transformed Robi and changed the landscape of the Telecom industry. Some of his key achievements include the biggest-ever merger of Robi and Airtel in Bangladesh, the biggest IPO, and the 4G data leadership of Robi, among the few. He was also the President of AMTOB, Vice Chairman of BMCCI, and EC member of FICCI. After a long, successful service life, this iconic professional has started a new journey as a founder and managing partner of Buildcon Consultancies Ltd. Mr. Ahmed is also associated with his family business DSFM Securities Ltd. He has earned a reputation as a columnist for writing in the leading English newspaper, The Daily Star.
